Mixed Media Workshop with Cate Townsend
“Japanese art has captivated artists from when it opened its borders in the mid-19th century. Throughout history Japan has known how to look at, read and feel nature from a viewpoint that was both emotional and aesthetic, and all of its art was imbued with such sensitivities.”
A fun workshop, for artists of all abilities, from beginners to advanced. Cate will give a talk around the theme, showing examples from various artists.
In this workshop participants will create mixed media works, being inspired by artists such as Del Kathryn Barton, Hush, Chagall, Matisse, Sarah Hickey, and Murakami Takashi, relating to the theme of Japanese/Asian art and design, Nature and Surrealism.
Participants are required to bring whatever material that they wish to create their work on, whether, canvas, paper or board. Also pencils, charcoal, brushes, and acrylic paint.
Materials for collaging, stencils, inks, extra paper for sketching ideas and some paint will be provided, along with morning and afternoon tea.
PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE LIMITED PLACES FOR THIS WORKSHOP
